South Australian grapes, vinified in Bali

Limestone Coast in the south-eastern corner of South Australia encompasses six smaller wine growing sub-regions. We work with growers in four of them: Coonawarra, Mount Benson, Mount Gambier, and Padthaway.

Mount Gambier
One of the coolest climate wine regions in South Australia, Mount Gambier is known for its rocky, calcium-rich soils which complement the growth of fine Pinot Noir. This region is home to one of our TWO Islands Pinot Noir vineyards.

Mount Benson
A cool, maritime region, Mount Benson is slowly gaining recognition for exceptional red wines, portions of which are regularly used in Australia’s most sought-after wine, Penfolds Grange. Mount Benson fruit accounts for around 40% of our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, adding roundness to the wine. 

Padthaway
This warm inland region could be considered the heart of the Limestone Coast. It produces fruit-forward and highly concentrated white and red grapes which form the backbone of many wines within our core range. We source portions of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, and Shiraz from single vineyards within this reliable and versatile sub-region.

Just half an hour’s drive from Adelaide city, the lush and leafy Adelaide Hills region delivers some of Australia’s best cool-climate wines. We source Chardonnay and Pinot Noir fruit for five of our wines—our core-range Chardonnay, our Reserve Chardonnay, our Sparkling Chardonnay, our core-range Pinot Noir, and our Reserve Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay— from a single Adelaide Hills grower. Though all the grapes hail from a single vineyard, they come from different aspects of the site with specially adjusted vineyard management techniques to achieve their respective characteristics.

More than 400 kilometres south-east of Adelaide, Coonawarra is the original home of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon. Strictly within the Limestone Coast zone, the sub-region is known for its unique terra rossa (red clay) soil, and typically produces full-bodied reds with dark berry and spearmint aromatics and ripe tannins. Fruit from our specially selected Coonawarra vineyard adds elegance, structure, and herbaceous undertones to our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.

An hour’s drive north of Adelaide, the historic Barossa Valley produces some of the most powerful and flavour-forward Shiraz in the world. The picturesque region holds special significance for both our winemaker James Kalleske, who grew up there, and TWO Islands founder Ida Bagus Rai Budarsa, for whom Barossa pours are a personal favourite. We are proud to source 100% of the fruit for our Reserve Shiraz from 30-year old Barossa vines, while our Tanunda-based vineyard supplies grapes for our core-range Shiraz.

A scenic 90-minute drive from Adelaide, Clare Valley is synonymous with quality Riesling. The signature style is dry, lean and mineral driven with refreshing citrus and pear aromas. Our search for minerality and purity of fruit has led us to work with a small-scale Clare Valley grower to produce a Riesling that is a tribute to the region.
